“Happy Dance” …..It finally stopped raining!
Don’t Eat the Mushrooms
It has been raining a lot here. Massive thunderstorms with high winds, eardrum blowing thunder, damaging lightening (that blew out our land line phone and we still have yet to call to get repaired) and we have gotten inches and inches of rain. The type of storms that you gasp at when you see the radar. It feels like it has rained almost the entire summer away here in New England! We were getting ready to build an Ark!
Post Rain: Now these beauties are all over the woods and, unfortunately, the yard. They are awfully pretty in the woods. My camera just did not do them justice (red caps). I love the way they just push everything out of their way when they explode out of the earth. They are like little hatching monsters. But in the yard, if you don’t pull them up in time they putrefy into a thick black smelly fungi sludge (see coming pictures in tomorrow’s post, Yucky-ick-eeewwwwe)
Also thanks to the rain I had to fight the pterodactyl sized mosquitoes to snap these pics. By the time I got back into the house I had been eaten alive. I am itchy again just thinking about it.

It is supposed to be a beautiful weekend without a drop of rain! Happy Dance, wiggle wiggle wiggle.
Time for me to gloat a little….
5 Day Weekend!
It is 5pm EST and I do not have to be back at work until Monday 8am! Yes, I have a 5 day weekend! <<<Happy Dance>>>
Not sure what I am going to to with all this time, I have no definite plans. I am most certainly going to snap some pictures, blog, garden, knit, read, and have a little me time. I am obligated to do the dreaded dress shopping ritual for a wedding at the end of the month. Will drop by the Cat Shelter to firm up my Volunteering. Might pop away from town for an overnight somewhere too.
I have not had time off in a long time so I don’t really care where I am and what I am doing; what matters is I don’t have to work or be the boss for a few days!
Stay tuned for posts detailing my exciting 5 day weekend (ha-ha-ha)
Yippee, it is 92 degrees, I am sweating just being, and I am off to yoga class now. Good news is maybe I’ll be 5 pounds lighter after it is over.
X-rays
(late post this should have gone up on friday but got posted to my drafts folder by mistake)
Being at the Vet all day is a bummer! Whoa am I beat!
Tests for the tumor on Hocus’ belly came back positive for cancer, so Hocus had her full body x-rays yesterday. The good news is that her cancer has not appeared to have spread to her lungs or other parts of her body! <<<Happy dance for Hocus>>> There is still a strong possibility that it may have spread to the lymph nodes, unfortunately x-rays are not good at detecting spread to the nodes. She is scheduled for surgery on the 28th of May. They will take the tumor off, just the tumor and see how she does from there. We will not do a radical mastectomy, the vet recommended against it because of her age, old lady that she is.
As you can see she is beat. Her and I hung out in the sun yesterday afternoon, I with a good book (Dante Valentine series: Dead Man Rising by Lilith Saintcrow ) and her with a wad of catnip……nap. Oh my geriatric kitty.
I am learning new things!
As you know I am new at blogging and the skill involved to do some of the geeky stuff. I don’t do fancy complicated software and I certainly don’t code (we tried learning that this weekend, NOT), that, among a long list of other things, is what I keep H around for. I finally have a means of scaling pictures for my blog <<<happy dance>>> . For the geeks out there I have an ever so basic knowledge of Gimp, I now know how to make pictures BIGGER and smaller, again <<<happy dance>>>. In time I might even be able to do other creative things, but for now BIGGER and smaller is all I need to know….. So, FYI, I may go back and edit some of the earlier posts to enlarge the photos so that you may enjoy my awesome photographic talent captured with my obsolete first generation 1.3 mega-pixel digital camera*. <<wink>>
Thank you babe for being so supportive of my blog, the current flavor of the week!
*And yes brother of mine that is the same Sony camera hanging on by a thread to remain useful in this world, it has held up well and still has life left in it, I do not plan on retiring it any time soon.
